About THR3AD collective

Our Mission

Rooted in the Midwest, connected to the coasts — Thr3ad Collective exists to bridge the gap in the dance industry by bringing world-class education, opportunity, and exposure to dancers in the heart of the country.

Why THR3AD

Founded by Macy Deppe and Ava-Grace Vermillion — two dancers who grew up in Kansas City and crossed paths through studios, school, and shared passion — this intensive was born from a desire to elevate the dance scene in a region too often overlooked.

While studying at Chapman University and experiencing the vibrant dance communities on both coasts, Macy and Ava-Grace recognized a need: to create a space where Midwest dancers could access the same high-level training and industry insights without having to leave home. At the same time, they sought to foster a cultural exchange by inviting dancers from the coasts to discover the rich, grounded artistry that thrives in the Midwest.

We believe talent knows no geography. Our mission is to provide dancers with the tools, inspiration, and connections they need to foster growth not only technically but also artistically and professionally. This is more than an intensive; it’s a movement to redefine what it means to be a dancer from the Midwest.

Meet the founders

MEET Macy Deppe

Hello! I’m Macy Deppe — a professional dancer, educator, and creator based in New York City.

I grew up training in the Midwest at LE Dance Studio and went on to earn my BFA in Dance Performance with a Minor in Musical Theater from Chapman University in Southern California. I’ve performed in Los Angeles, Kansas City, Texas, and New York City, with experience spanning both film and live theater.

Throughout my journey, I’ve had the privilege of working with remarkable artists and companies including Dwight Rhoden, Jessica Lee Goldyn, Cole Loeser (The New Jack Cole Dancers), Dylan Pearce, Doug Varone, Francisco Gella, Yusha Sorzano, Zeitgeist Dance Theatre, Artists Simply Human Convention Assistant, and many more.

Rooted in Midwest values and shaped by coastal experience, I’m passionate about sharing, creating, and building community through dance.

MEET Ava-Grace Vermillion

Hello! I’m Ava-Grace Vermillion — a professional dancer, educator, and creative based in Los Angeles.

I began my training in Kansas City at Perception Dance Company and, as a member of the Notre Dame de Sion Dance Team, my love for dance quickly evolved into a passion for a professional career. I went on to earn my BFA in Dance Performance with a Minor in Entrepreneurship from Chapman University, where I graduated in May of 2024!

I’ve had the honor of training with inspiring artists such as Brian Nicholson, Jackie Sleight, Ido Tadmor, Dana Wilson, Will Johnston, Micaela Taylor, Jillian Meyers, Georgie Fabian, Mike Tyus, and Luca Francesco, among many others. My work spans both stage and screen, blending athleticism, musicality, and storytelling.

Alongside performing, I’m incredibly passionate about teaching. I am dedicated to empowering young dancers and creating a space that fosters growth, confidence, and creativity.
